1. This "Canada" paint scheme revision was introduced in 1998. The last appearance of a unit operating in the original paint scheme was in June 2000. 2. VIA 6423, 6429 and 6447 never received this paint scheme. 3. VIA 6422, 6430 and 6450 were all retired in this paint scheme between 1999-2001. 4. Air-conditioning, 2nd OBS antenna, revised air intake filter covers and a bug shield were retrofitted to most units between 1997 and 2002. 5. VIA 6430 received the "CANADA" markings sometime in October or November 1999, operated in servivce that way for a few weeks at most and was wrecked on November 23, 1999. The hulk was then used as a parts source in Montreal for several years before it was finally cut up for scrap around 2012. I have never seen any in-service photos of 6430 in the Canada scheme. 6. VIA 6424 and 6446 received a variation of this scheme in 2005-06 which featured a modernized maple leaf logo on the rear. These were the only two yellow F40s with this lettering variation. 7. VIA 6408, 6409, 6411, 6413, 6414, 6418, 6419, 6420, 6421, 6424, 6425, 6427, 6434, 6435, 6438, 6440, 6445, 6446, 6453, 6456, 6458 and a few others in this paint scheme were updated with a 3rd high-intensity headlight gradually between 2005-10. 8. The last spotting of a yellow F40PH-2D in service was of 6453 on May 30, 2012.
